Many skiers ventured out onto the trails yesterday, and the responses were surprisingly positive: solid snow coverage, good conditions albeit slow due to the moisture in the snow, and a few thin spots starting to open up. We expect the same today. It only got below freezing for a short time last night, so we will not be grooming this morning. Classic skiing will be preferred over skating today due to the softness of the snow. There is approximately 8″ of snow in the woods, and about 5″ packed on the trails. The Stone Turtle Day Lodge is open for lunch and drinks today. Join us for Paella today, cooked over open flame on the sun deck and served at 12 and 2pm.

A favorite XC Ski HQ tradition, Paella on the Sun Deck celebrates a world-renowned, Spanish rice dish, and offers skiers a hearty, flavorful (and entertaining!) feast. Prepared in a massive cast iron pan over an outdoor fire pit, this lunch comes from an authentic Spanish recipe from Paella master Ayo from Nerja, Spain, and is served piping hot with Saffron-spiced chicken, shrimp, mussels and peppers. Paella will be served at 12:00pm and 2:00pm, and tickets can be purchased in the Cafe.
