We received more snow throughout the day yesterday, and the trails are in great shape. All trails are open and groomed. The ground beneath the snow is still working its way towards being totally frozen, which means that we can’t set classic tracks just yet; however, skating and non-tracked classic skiing will be fabulous today. The rental desk is open and the day lodge is available for BYO picnics! The Cafe officially opens tomorrow, December 7th.

Tonight: Scattered snow showers during the evening. Then partly to mostly cloudy overnight. Low around 20F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
Tomorrow: Snow during the morning will taper off and give way to cloudy skies during the afternoon. High 37F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70%. About one inch of snow expected.

Saturday, Dec 7th – 6:00pm: XC Ski HQ Ski Team Kick-Off Dinner!
The XC Ski HQ Ski Team will kick off the race season this weekend with a team dinner party! We will feast, introduce new and existing team members, discuss the race schedule, and talk strategy for holding onto the Michigan Cup after last season’s nail-biting victory. An entree will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass or a beverage to share. The HQ team is known for its great camaraderie amongst members, and is very welcoming to new members, so if you’re considering racing this season and joining our team, please join us for the team dinner!
Saturday, Dec 14th – 10:30am: Free Beginner Ski Lesson
Learn how to cross country ski at our FREE beginner ski lesson! You will learn the basics of traditional (classic style) XC ski technique, plus hill climbing, descending, and turning. You will even learn how to get up when you fall down! Free lessons are limited to 25 people. Ski rentals are available at the rental desk on a first-come, first-served basis (we do not take rental reservations). The free lesson lasts 1 hour. *Snow permitting.
