We received more snow last night, bringing the total on the trails to about 5 inches. I had a wonderful time skiing the Manitou trail this morning on my Fischer Spider 62’s (with plenty of liquid glide wax on the bases to prevent the fresh snow from sticking too much)! While coverage is quite good, rock skis are still recommended, just in case. Groomer Mike will be packing and rolling the trails this morning. We will see how that goes before grooming and setting tracks. The rental desk is open today during store hours, 10am to 5:30pm. What fun to be SKIING!

Saturday, Dec 7th – 6:00pm: XC Ski HQ Ski Team Kick-Off Dinner!
The XC Ski HQ Ski Team will kick off the race season this weekend with a team dinner party! We will feast, introduce new and existing team members, discuss the race schedule, and talk strategy for holding onto the Michigan Cup after last season’s nail-biting victory. An entree will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass or a beverage to share. The HQ team is known for its great camaraderie amongst members, and is very welcoming to new members, so if you’re considering racing this season and joining our team, please join us for the team dinner!
Saturday, Dec 14th – 10:30am: Free Beginner Ski Lesson
Learn how to cross country ski at our FREE beginner ski lesson! You will learn the basics of traditional (classic style) XC ski technique, plus hill climbing, descending, and turning. You will even learn how to get up when you fall down! Free lessons are limited to 25 people. Ski rentals are available at the rental desk on a first-come, first-served basis (we do not take rental reservations). The free lesson lasts 1 hour. *Snow permitting.
